Boston Mural Update

Still working on the Mural background. I have to match the sample exactly. It will look like a copper roof that has a weathered greenish patina.

Im painting it in four sections. basically one for every wall. below are the cad drawings.

A Hurricane and a Comic Con

 I Had this Huge Tree come down from my Yard. It Just missed the power lines across the street

more chalk paint

 I had an old crappy frame I experimented with. First I covered it in our ""Barn Yard Red" chalk paint then I put a quick layer if metallic gold acrylic paint then a final layer of "Graphite" chalk paint (allowing the paint to fully dry between layers). After the final layer dryed a roughed it up with sand paper and steel wool (first pic)

 My wax is totally different than any other on the market. It Is water based, non toxic and brushes on instead of needing to be wiped on with a rag. It has the consistency of heavy cream and brushes on milky white but dries to a clear finish.

When dry lightly buff with a soft cloth. the finish is a beautifully soft waxed look. These crappy iphone pics dont do the finish justice. I will be taking better pics soon.

Chalk Paint Project

I have been experimenting with Killen Studios new Chalk paint line. I really love it. we have developed a great system of paint, wax and aging mediums - ALL water based and non toxic!
More on that in the future. Anyway -  Above is a crappy iphone pic of a cool little creepy project I am going to do. I found 2 old baby furniture pieces I am going to refurbish. I will document the process with a proper camera.

Zombie Chick Deck

I just started a new deck. I buy raw wood decks from www.blankdecks.com
I then sand the base and put a couple of coats of Killenstudios base white on. I finish the prep with wet sanding so the deck is ivory smooth.

So this is the latest skateboard deck. I'm pleased with it. Still needs another clear poly top coat.

Boston Mural

Unfortunately the first sample was rejected by the owner. The designers and architects loved it but its the owner that counts. It needs to be a bit more muted so back to the studio to make another sample.

Pin Up America magazine

This is an ad going in Pin Up America magazine for the Halloween special issue.

 The mural project is slowly moving along. the sample approval is next week. the above is a pic ove the canvas blue background before the gold leaf zodiac drawings and white navigation lines are added. the cloth samples on top are samples of all the fabrics that will be in the room. Im going to do another sample that is darker - more like the original sketch below as a back up.

This is a display we put in the RISD store a couple weeks ago featuring the Killen Studios non toxic nail polish "RISD Eco Color". Sales are pretty good for the slow summer season.

Savannah trip

I was in Savannah GA to pitch a private label Student Grade Acrylic paint to SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design. Hopefully they will go for it, its a very nice school with a beautiful campus
